Giving in Memory
Marylyn was passionate about ideas, paying them forward and leaving the world & the next generation in a better place. She decided some years ago to activate her own version of a “Giving Pledge”.
Here are the legacy endowments and charitable organizations she created and cared deeply about.
Syracuse University
Marylyn set up a legacy endowment for Syracuse students pursuing STEM as a major in the Arts & Sciences College at the University. Special consideration will go to students who are women and from underprivileged & diverse backgrounds.
Marylyn received her BA in Philosophy from Syracuse, Magna Cum Laude in 1962.

University of Chicago
Marylyn created two legacy endowments at The University of Chicago. The first, is to provide scholarships to students in STEM, who have declared an Education Minor. This will be known as the Grabosky Prize. The second, is to establish an annual endowment & lecture series for a rising, next generation female researcher in Neuroscience. This will be known as the Annual Grabosky Lecture Series.
Marylyn was passionate about education & learning being the way forward to protect our democracy and democratic values. She was equally passionate about women and helping to secure the world’s future through the support of strong women leaders, who are passionate and committed to making a difference in the world.
Marylyn received her Masters in English, with an education certificate from the U of C in 1972.

Michiana Humane Society
All of Marylyn’s cats over the years have been what she called “dune babies”, born on the shores of Michiana her beloved Lake Home for 5 decades. We adopted Sammie from the Humane Society Shelter in Michigan City on Route 12 in the Spring of 2019. Marylyn picked Sammie for her beauty and her smart, but relaxed personality. She was a constant presence and companion to Marylyn, bringing her joy, love and laughter every day.
